The holidays can be a crazy time of year, sometimes filled with “too much” family drama. But better the drama be onstage than in our own lives. And that’s where the Tony-nominated Other Desert Cities comes to the rescue.

From Pulitzer Prize-finalist Jon Robin Baitz, Other Desert Cities is smart new play of high drama, serious laughter and repartee that dazzles and decimates. One of the hottest tickets on Broadway last season, the action is set in the desert playground ofPalm Springs on Christmas Eve and tells the story of a once promising novelist who returns home after a six-year absence to spend the holidays with her parents, brother and aunt. When she announces that she is about to publish a memoir focusing on an explosive chapter in the family’s history, the reunion is thrown into turmoil.

The cast includes Jeannie Berlin, Robert Foxworth, Robin Weigert, Michael Weston and JoBeth Williams. The New York Times praised Other Desert Cities declaring it “the most richly enjoyable new play for grown-ups.” Looks like the holiday season just got more interesting!

Other Desert Cities opens at the Mark Taper Forum on December 9 and runs through January 6, 2013.
