Looking for a fun place to people watch? Head to Tommy’s Beverly Hills, the new restaurant and cafe in the old Bouchon space on Canon Drive. Tommy Salvatore, formerly the man who ruled the tables at Dan Tana’s and then at Craig’s, is the namesake of this place and he’s got Vartan Abgaryan (71 Above) as head chef.

We were impressed by a recent lunch just a week after the cafe opened. Marble tables situated on the ground floor terrace across from the Montage Hotel are welcoming and provide a prime view of the steady parade of passers-by and power players. The food was outstanding! Hamachi Crudo with a passion fruit melted in the mouth. An interesting and crunchy take on Caesar salad should become a favorite — it was that vibrant and savory. House made Cacio e Pepe was very satisfying. The rest of the menu is Italian inspired with small plates and a handful of mains, burgers, and grain bowls. The food at Tommy’s is brightly flavored and super-satisfying. We felt full but healthy at the same time — this should keep the clientele happy. The main restaurant upstairs opens soon for dinner service. In the meanwhile, enjoying drinks at Tommy’s on the street level promises to be a lot of fun now that the weather is getting warm!
