Sometimes you just need a good romantic-comedy to make you forget about the economic woes, climate change, the stock market and your crazy relatives so I was thrilled when I went to an advance screening of About Fate and found myself forgetting the world’s woes and laughing a lot.

The setup is a familiar one – two hopeless romantics, two failed engagements, dumb luck meeting, comedy and chaos ensue, confused friends and relatives, old boy/girlfriends return, time for choices. So, you know where this one is going but it’s all about the ride and About Fate is a sheer delight of a ride thanks to two very likeable and talented stars, Emma Roberts (Margot) and Thomas Mann (Griffin).

Roberts (daughter of actor Eric Roberts and niece of actress Julia Roberts) is a big and small screen favorite.  She was a standout in the TV series American Horror Story and Scream Queens. She won numerous awards for her role in We’re the Millers co-starring with Jennifer Aniston and Will Poulter and raves for her performance in It’s Kind of A Funny Story with current co-star Mann. She also won an MTV Award for Nancy Drew.  Mann recently starred in Project X and the indie fav Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. Look for him in the sequel Halloween: Kills this October. Go see About Fate, it’s comfort food for the sole!
