Noah Wyle, best known for his role as Dr. John Carter on ER (1994–2005), is co-producing, writing, and starring in an intriguing, fast-paced new drama called The Pitt (now streaming on MAX). Created by R. Scott Gemmill, the action never stops. Each episode depicts one-hour of a shift in a fictional hospital emergency room in Pittsburgh., PA. The first season depicts a single day, hour by hour. The format is very similar to Fox’s hit series 24.
The ER is filled with a lively group of senior resident doctors, nurses, and interns. Wyle’s character, senior attending physician Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, oversees literally everything while the chaos unfolds around him. Once again, Wyle shines in a starring role. The series also features Katherine LaNasa (Imposters), Taylor Dearden (daughter of Bryan Cranston!), Isa Briones (Goosebumps), Fiona Dourif (Chucky), Shabana Azeez, Tracy Ifeachor, Supriya Ganesh, Gerran Howell, Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy, Jalen Thomas Brooks, and Ned Brower.
The scenes are so well choreographed and brilliantly played out like a ballet… as the story moves from patient to patient. High pressure and stressful situations abound. Sound pretty intense? It is! The reviews have been fantastic, and I agree. I’m all in. Hold on for the ride! New episodes of The Pitt air on Thursdays at 9pm.
