We all remember our first love, right? When it was, where it was, and, most importantly who it was. They stay fixed on our lives, as we find new romance after romance. How would that look like on screen? Messy, funny, or just sad? HBO Max’s new comedy, Love Life, imagines a person’s romantic life, from their very first to their very last.

Hollywood’s sweetheart, Anna Kendrick, stars in Love Life as Darby Carter, a woman searching for love, but who, for the life of her, can’t seem to find the one, yet. As she recounts her love life to her therapist, Dr. Magnus Lund (Nick Thurne), different issues arise: fear of rejection, fear of commitment. As Darby traces back her love life, she realizes it’s not just the romances she’s met, but the people along the way, that make up her identity. Zoë Chao (Strangers), Peter Vack (Mozart in the Jungle) and Scoot McNairy (Halt and Catch Fire) also star. Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) narrates the series. Sam Boyd created the series in his first major credit. He also wrote and directed the pilot. The premise of the series is an anthology one; each season will follow a new set of characters, focusing on one’s love life.
