The Pasadena POPS will bring the snap and crackle at Saturday August 10’s outdoor summer concert starring Grammy and Tony nominee Michael Cavanaugh singing the great POP music ofPaul Simon, James Taylor, Billy Joeland more at the LA County Arboretum. A POPS favorite from tributes to Billy Joel and Elton John in past seasons, Cavanaugh’s career took off when he was handpicked by Billy Joel himself to lead the Broadway musical Movin’ Out, bringing the house down for more than 3 years and 1200 performances. Acclaimed for his highly energized piano and vocals, Billboard has called Cavanaugh “The New Voice of the American Rock ’n Roll Songbook,” for his thrilling tributes, this newest show paying homage to the iconic singer-songwriters that transformed American music. With POPS conductor Larry Blank leading the orchestra and a full back-up band, you’ll be up on your feet and adding your own vocals to timeless hits including “Me and Julio,” “You Can Call me Al,” “How Sweet It Is,” “Sweet Caroline,” “Piano Man” and many more. The LA County Arboretum and Botanic Garden in Arcadia will open for picnicking and dining at 5:30pm, with the concert at 7:30pm.
