This month famed country music legend Garth Brooks releases two new albums, “Fun” consisting of 14 newly recorded tracks and “Triple Live Deluxe” which is three discs with 30 live performances from his world tour with wife and fellow country artist Trisha Yearwood. One of the featured songs from “Fun” now hitting country music radio airwaves is their rendition of “Shallow,” the title song from the 2018 blockbuster movie A Star Is Born. And it’s simply divine!

Prior to this Brooks was most recently in headlines for winning the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards, a heady accolade that puts him in a class of artists with Stevie Wonder, Prince and Cher. It’s not hard to understand why he was honored with it being the only artist in music history to have released nine albums that achieved diamond status, a record previously held by the Beatles who had six. All up he’s sold more than a whopping 170 million records. He also gained favor with a whole new generation when a few years back he was a judge and mentor in season 11 of The Voice.

While Brooks has maintained a long and storied career from Nashville to Hollywood, it was his breakout single Friends in Low Places that earned him global recognition some 30 years ago. “The world around us has changed, definitely music, the way it’s distributed,” said Brooks in a recent interview reflecting on that time. “But what’s never going to change is the heart and soul of music. So I think songs and music forever is going to stay the same.”
