No one’s music is more synonymous with the 1970’s and 80’s disco era than the incredible Donna Summer. Her songs still live on to this day on dance floors and in clubs across America and around the world. Wind up that mirror ball and get ready to relive the Queen of Disco’s rise to fame and fortune in the musical version of her life: SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical coming to the Pantages Theatre this month.

The show reveals Summer breaking through barriers in three stages of her life:  Duckling Donna in her pre-teens in Boston starting out in a gospel choir; Disco Donna, in her late teens and 20s as she starts on the road to fame and success; and Diva Donna in her 50s and at the top of her career. The popular songs and over the top dance numbers (oh those costumes) are the real stars here with twenty classic hits including: “Hot Stuff,” “Love to Love You Baby,” “She Works Hard for the Money,” “Bad Girls,” “Heaven Knows,” “On the Radio” and the duet with Barbra Streisand, “No More Tears (Enough is Enough).”

Not only was Summer an inspiration to every music diva who followed, she was the voice of a generation and this show finally gives her a rightful place in our pop culture. I guarantee you’ll be singing along and dancing in the aisles.
