DIANA ROSS

Who could ever forget Diana Ross’s 1983 concert in a torrential rainstorm in New York City’s Central Park? What I remember most vividly was when she was crying, addressing the crowd, and said, “Maybe they’ll let me do it again tomorrow…” as the wind and rain soaked her from head to toe. Well, they did indeed let her do it again the next day. The weather was glorious, and she was magnificent. (Google it!)

Diana Ross got her start with a little group called the Primettes (which became The Supremes), Motown Records, and the legendary Berry Gordy. Let’s just say Berry was a fan too (he is the father of her first child). At the farewell performance of Diana Ross and The Supremes in 1970, Ed Sullivan said, “Tonight, one of the greatest attractions of the 60s becomes two of the greatest attractions of the 70s.” Superstar Ross has been wowing audiences for the last 50 years. I’ve been lucky enough to see her at the Hollywood Bowl several times and she is always all in. Tremendously talented, she simply knows how to entertain. A real mega-star!

Now, after 22 years she has graced us with new music. Hooray! The track is called Thank You … for the love. She has said, “The song is a love letter to my many fans.” The melody is light, catchy, and soothing. Check it out.
