The Jerry Moss Plaza at the Music Center downtown is the place to be this summer for music and dance. Over eight Friday nights, anyone and everyone can enjoy free, in-person beginner dance lessons before dancing the night away. There is no experience is necessary for this fun, instructor-led, entertaining evening under the stars.
Celebrating its 20th year, Dance DTLA has something for everyone. This summer, eight different dance styles will be featured, including reggaeton, line dancing, Columbian Cumba and Samba.
Here are a few highlights…
Prolific choreographer, performer and instructor Achinta S. McDaniel, opens the summer dance nights with Bollywood. McDaniel, the founding artistic director of Blue13 Dance Company, is a powerful voice and pioneer of American dance.
Long-time Dance at DTLA instructor, dancer, professor and choreographer Andrew Vaca has worked with thousands of NBA and NFL dancers and cheerleaders and created NFL halftime spectaculars. He has taught thousands of Angelenos during Disco Night, 60s, 80s, and 90s Nights. He leads Disco Night 2024.
Hip-hop night is heralded by Brandon “BeastBoi” Juezan, a professional hip-hop and street dance artist, educator, and event producer. He is also the touring manager for Versa-Style Dance Company.
Dance DTLA is a free event open to all ages. Food and beverages are available for purchase.
