Director Zoë Kravitz and writing partner E.T. Feigenbaum (High Fidelity) have masterfully meshed the ultimate dream with a devastating nightmare in their latest horror flick. That dream turns real when billionaire boy meets working girl and whisks her away to his lap of luxury. Donning the uniform of the working girl is Naomi Ackie (Cupid) as Frida, a waitress working at a fundraising gala for tech tycoon Slater King, played by the hard to resist Channing Tatum (Deadpool & Wolverine). Slater invites Frida and her bestie Jess to join him and his innermost circle on his private island of paradise. As they indulge themselves in ever-flowing champagne and illegal substances, in spa treatments and sunbathing, the dopamine hits quickly devolve into diminishing returns. What follows is a diabolical spiral into madness where the guests lose their grasp on reality and slip into a haze of hallucinations. When Frida asks around if anyone has seen Jess, no one seems to know who that is. And Jess’ room is now full of furniture as if she never existed, and thus begins Frida’s devastating nightmare. With a star-studded cast that also includes Alia Shawkat (Drift), Christian Slater (Unfrosted), Simon Rex (Bupkis), Adria Arjona (Los Frikis), Haley Joel Osment (Drugstore June), Kyle MacLachlan (Fallout), and Geena Davis (Fairyland), Blink Twice is quite the eye opener.
