SKIRBALL AT HOME

Check out Skirball at Home this month

You can always count on the Skirball Cultural Center for an interesting exhibition or fun event so when I received news of their upcoming exhibit, “I’ll Have What She’s Having:” The Jewish Deli, I put it at the top of my must do-list for May. Though the opening has been postponed, I was thrilled to discover a story on the website that explores the culture, history and food at delis across the U.S.  You can go on a virtual journey with the curators as they did their ‘dining’ research. As for deli memorabilia, the exhibit title comes from the infamous line in Where Harry Met Sally, “I’ll have what she’s having” said in a booth at Katz’s Delicatessen. I was practically drooling looking at the food photos – ironically, I recently enjoyed a classic Corned Beef on rye at Nate ‘n Al’s just weeks before it closed. I guarantee you’ll want to order ‘take in’ from one of the local delis they recommend.

Also online at the Skirball’s website, you’ll find an Arts and Crafts section with fun ideas and projects for kids ‘of all ages.’ Many stem from their wonderful Noah’s Art exhibit, a favorite of my grandchildren. They also feature Music Playlists pulled from artists who have performed at the Skirball and a curated list of film recommendation from Cinema Tuesday’s Benina Stern. Check back frequently for more to explore.
